Ingredients

  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of minced garlic
  • Some olive oil
  • A few cups of veggie broth
  • A drop or two of liquid smoke, optional
  • 1 cup lentils
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 0.25 tsp cumin
  • 0.25 tsp coriander
  • A pinch or two of allspice

Directions

  1. Cut the onion and bell pepper. Cook over medium heat with some olive oil until deeply browned, 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for another minute or two.
  3. Add everything else, bring to a boil, and cook until lentils are done. 20-25 minutes.

Notes

  1. Serve over some turmeric rice with harissa.
