Baked donuts
Simple donuts that come together in under an hour, made from scratch and baked. 🍩
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 0.25 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp (35 g) brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 0.75 tsp baking powder
- pinch of baking soda
- 0.25 to 0.5 tsp ground nutmeg, to taste
- 0.75 tsp kosher salt
- 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.33 cups (160 g) all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup milk
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease one donut pan.
- Beat the butter, oil, and sugars until smooth.
- Add the egg, beat to combine.
- Stir in the baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla.
- Stir in the flour and milk in small pours, mixing until smooth.
- Spoon batter into the donut pan, filling each well a little short of full.
- Bake 12-14 minutes, then allow to rest for 10 before removing from the pan.
- Cool and ice as you’d like.
Notes
- Adapted from King Arthur Baking Company’s Baked Donuts - half the recipe and adjust time for what’s working at my altitude.
- Yields about 6 to 8 donuts, depending on the size of the pan.
- I usually do a simple chocolate ganache or simple maple cream for icing.
