Pizza sauce

It’s pizza sauce. 🍕


  • 3 (15 oz) cans of tomato sauce
  • Half of a white onion, finely chopped (about a rounded half cup)
  • 4 or 5 cloves of garlic, finely diced (or about 2 tbsp of minced garlic)
  • 1.5 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • A little bit of olive oil, maybe 2 tbsp
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • A few turns of black pepper from the mill (maybe half a teaspoon)


  1. Preheat oven to 225°F (about 110°C).
  2. Combine all ingredients in a dutch oven.
  3. Bake with the lid slightly cracked for 4-6 hours.
  4. Remove and use for pizza, dipping bread, etc.


  • Freezes beautifully for making a big batch and then having individual pizza sized frozen bags.
  • About 1 cup of sauce makes one large pizza.
