Hudson Bay bread
Hudson Bay Bread is a year-round favorite, serving as the basis of a high-energy lunch or snack.
Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds margarine or butter 4 cups sugar
- 0.67 cup corn syrup
- 0.67 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons maple flavoring
- 1.5 cups ground nuts
- 19 cups oatmeal
Directions
- Start by mixing together the first five ingredients.
- Mix in the nuts and oatmeal.
- Spread the mixture in a large sheet pan. Press it down into the pan.
- Bake at 325°F in a convection (wind) oven for 15 to 18 minutes.
- As soon as the bread is taken from the oven, use a spatual to press it down (to keep it from crumbling).
- Cut the bread while it is still warm.
Notes
- For home preparation, cut the recipe at least in half.
- A conventional oven requires a longer baking time than convection, time may need adjusting.
